KURODAS

Just as the master has his responsibilities to the student, the student has his responsibilities. First, he cannot understand the capacities and thought-process of the master. But, it’s not about understanding, it’s about copying. How to copy. When to copy. And, to copy clearly. Correctly. Quietly. Not everyone follows this way. Only one in many. Because when you develop your own ways, it’s not what the master showed. It’s your own thoughts. It’s more an expression of yourself. And in classical martial arts, what you want to be is like the master. A trace, a clear resemblance in movement and form to the master is what one should strive for.
